(JUBA) – The social advocacy community in Juba is mourning the untimely death of young entrepreneur and social activist Towongo Evans, popularly known as “Towson Evans,” who passed away on Wednesday evening in the capital, Juba.
His sudden death has left friends, family and colleagues in shock, with many taking to social media to share tributes and memories of a man widely remembered for his kindness, generosity and hard work.
According to close family members, Evans collapsed at his workplace earlier in the day and was rushed to Juba Teaching Hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead later that evening. At the time of reporting, the cause of his death remains unknown.
Towongo Evans had built a respected reputation among South Sudan’s youth and entrepreneurial community. He had worked with several domestic and regional airline companies, including City Link Africa Aviation, where he served in various roles.
He was also known for his engagement in social causes and support to friends and strangers alike, earning him widespread admiration from peers across different circles.
News of his passing spread quickly on Facebook and other social media platforms, where many young people expressed their sorrow and offered condolences to the grieving family.
Several posts described Evans as a warm, helpful and hardworking individual who always went out of his way to support others.
One of the many emotional tributes came from his close friend, Lubang Charles, who recalled a memorable encounter with Evans shortly after arriving in Juba.
Charles described how Evans welcomed him with open arms, took him out for a meal and offered encouragement during a time of transition in his life.
“The world feels a little dimmer without his radiant presence,” Charles wrote. “He was more than just a friend. He was a confidant, a source of support and a reminder of the good in the world… His kindness knew no bounds.”
Friends described him as someone who was always ready to listen, assist and encourage others, no matter their background or situation.
Funeral and prayer services will be held in Juba along Gudele Road, opposite Antipas Pharmacy near the Upper Nile University, as confirmed by family members.
