(YEI, CES) – The Center for Democracy and and Development, CEDED, a local NGO based in Yei River County says, it has supported the formation of a Boma Peace Committee in Ronyi Boma of Yei Town Payam, as part of efforts to strengthen civic space and promote peaceful coexistence at the community level on Monday.
The committee was established under the SMAC+ Project, which is supporting community-level mechanisms for addressing conflict and encouraging dialogue.
According to CEDED, the newly formed Boma Peace Committee will monitor conflicts within the community, investigate potential triggers and report emerging threats that could undermine peace and stability.
The committee is also expected to facilitate community dialogues and reconciliation processes, providing a platform for residents to address disagreements and other concerns through peaceful engagement.
The formation of the committee places community members at the Centre of identifying conflict concerns and supporting dialogue and reconciliation within Ronyi Boma.
