(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -The Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative (WPDI) has completed the rehabilitation of a Community Resource Center in South Sudan’s Yei River County, marking a significant step toward expanding access to education and skills development in the area.
Earlier Thursday morning, the Centre for Democracy and Development (CEDED) posted via its official social media platforms, and as reported by Access Radio, that the facility had been renovated by CEDED and ready for public use.
However, WPDI’s Project Officer based in the Yei field office, James Yatta Ambrose, clarified to Access Radio that the rehabilitation was carried out by WPDI under a partnership agreement agreement with CEDED.
The initiative is designed to create a dedicated space for training and learning in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), business and entrepreneurship, and conflict resolution education.
According to Yatta, the upgraded facility has been fully furnished and equipped with solar power, ensuring a reliable energy supply and a conducive learning environment for community members.
WPDI, an international humanitarian and development organization, focuses on empowering young people and children in vulnerable and fragile communities. Through programs like the Yei resource center, the organization seeks to nurture peacebuilders and promote positive transformation at both community and national levels.
