(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A public health official from Yei River County, Juma Ismail, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in South Sudan’s National Legislative Assembly, promising to champion improved infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and youth empowerment.
Running under the ticket of the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC), Juma Ismail is seeking to represent Yei Town Payam Constituency No. 6 in the Central Equatoria State delegation to the National Legislative Assembly.
According to campaign materials released by the candidate, his manifesto focuses on improving road infrastructure to enhance connectivity and economic growth in Yei, expanding access to quality education, strengthening healthcare services, boosting agricultural production and food security and creating opportunities for youth and women.
The aspiring legislator also pledges to promote peace, unity and good governance, describing these as key pillars for the development of Yei River County and South Sudan as a whole.
Under the campaign slogan “Together for a Better Tomorrow,” Juma Ismail is calling on voters to support what he describes as a vision for a united, prosperous, and democratic South Sudan.
If elected, he says he will work to ensure that community concerns are effectively represented at the national level while advocating for development initiatives that improve the lives of residents across Yei Town Payam.
The parliamentary race in Yei is expected to attract considerable interest as candidates from different political parties and movements begin outlining their agendas ahead of the country’s anticipated elections.
