(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A prominent entrepreneur in Yei River County has called on young people to embrace entrepreneurship and create their own employment opportunities as a solution to rising unemployment and poverty.
Thomas Mutto Buda, an enterprise expert and Patron of the Central Equatoria Business Union, said self-employment remains one of the most effective ways for young people to improve their livelihoods and contribute to economic growth in the community.
Speaking to Access Radio on Tuesday, Mutto urged young men and women to take entrepreneurship seriously and become job creators rather than job seekers.
“With experience in entrepreneurship, I have seen that self-employment is the key to go and that is why I am calling on our young men and women in Yei County to take the entrepreneurship spirit very serious and be job creators in your various levels of education,” he said.
Mutto also encouraged young people to make effective use of the internet and emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), for learning, research and business innovation.
He warned that rapid technological advancements are transforming the labour market and could leave many unprepared young people without employment opportunities if they fail to adapt.
“If you look at the current global changes in technology, especially on Artificial Intelligence, things are changing. Robots are now working as secretaries and messengers, and if we don’t prepare ourselves to create job opportunities, the future will be in darkness and we shall be left without opportunities,” Mutto noted.
He called on youth across Yei River County to embrace creativity, innovation and technology-driven entrepreneurship as a way of securing their future and contributing to local economic development.
