
(JUBA) – Staff members from the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) and Dar Petroleum Operating Company (D-POC) participated in a series of friendly basketball matches on Friday 5 July 2025 at the BoSS Sports Complex in Juba.
The event brought together teams from both institutions in a celebration of collaboration, fitness and shared commitment to staff wellbeing.
The men’s match saw a commanding performance from the BoSS team, which won 75–57 against D-POC in an action packed game that entertained spectators and showcased the growing popularity of basketball in South Sudan.
Meanwhile, the D-POC women’s team claimed a solid 37–26 victory over their BoSS counterparts, effectively levelling the competition.
The games attracted officials and employees from both organisations, who used the occasion to stress the value of sports in promoting institutional cooperation beyond office walls.
Leaders from both BoSS and D-POC expressed support for using organised sport to foster stronger relationships, improve physical health and build morale among workers.

A representative from BoSS stressed that such activities reflect the bank’s commitment to building a productive and motivated workforce.
“Events like these are not only about competition,” the official said. “They help strengthen the bonds between institutions, promote a healthy lifestyle, and encourage teamwork.”
This latest friendly competition comes at a time when South Sudan’s reputation in international basketball continues to grow, with national players gaining recognition on global courts.
