
Atlabara FC Yei donates food and essentials to rivals/Handout
(YEI COUNTY) – Yei Joint Stars FC have expressed heartfelt appreciation to Atlabara FC Yei for a generous donation of food and essential supplies, which came as the club celebrated its recent success in the South Sudan Cup.
The donation included 25 kilograms of rice, 25 kilograms of posho, 25 kilograms of sugar, two crates of bottled water and a dozen bars of bathing soap.
Club officials said Atlabara FC’s gesture showed unity and friendship within Yei’s football community:
“We are very grateful for Atlabara’s kind support. It shows that football is not just about competition but also about brotherhood and community spirit,” the management said.
The club added that the supplies will help maintain the players’ welfare as they prepare for upcoming fixtures in Juba.
Players from Yei Joint Stars also expressed their gratitude, noting that such support builds morale and strengthens their determination to represent Yei County well.
One of the senior players described the donation as “a reminder that when we win, the whole community wins together.”
Atlabara FC Yei’s representatives said the contribution was made to encourage cooperation among local sports teams. They said it reflects the belief that football can serve as a unifying force for young people in Yei and the wider Central Equatoria region.
The donation came just days after Yei Joint Stars FC were crowned South Sudan Cup Champions, following an impressive display that earned them several tournament honours. The team completed three matches, scoring 24 goals and conceding none. The club’s goalkeeper won the Golden Gloves Award, another player was named Best Player of the Tournament, and the top scorer also came from the Yei side.
Fans across Yei County have described the team’s performance as “historic,” saying it has brought pride to the community. Supporters often refer to the squad as “The Pride of Small London,” a nickname that celebrates Yei’s vibrant football culture.
