(JUBA) – The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has announced a series of internal transfers and promotions affecting key positions, aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, and operational standards across the country’s airports and airstrips.
The changes, approved by the SSCAA Board of Directors and senior management, were made public during the closing ceremony of the Aerodrome and Runway Safety Workshop, held from 4 to 7 August 2025 in Juba.
The event was officiated by SSCAA Director General Hon. John Woja Elinana and Board Chairperson Hon. Michael Lopuke Lotyam.
In a press statement released on 6 August 2025, SSCAA said the reorganisation forms part of its broader strategy to align operations with both its national mandate and international aviation standards. The authority emphasised that these administrative adjustments are routine but strategically significant for delivering safe, secure, and efficient civil aviation services.
Among the key appointments, Capt. Dau Majak has been promoted to General Manager of Regional Airports. He will be responsible for overseeing the operations of regional airports and airstrips, ensuring they meet both national and international safety requirements.
In another major change, Eng. Kat Mosety Monyjok has been named Acting General Manager of Juba International Airport. He will be tasked with maintaining the smooth running of the country’s busiest airport and principal international gateway.
SSCAA reminded the public that Juba International Airport and all other airports in South Sudan remain under its management and oversight, along with the guidance of its Board of Directors. All projects and developments at these facilities, the statement noted, are implemented only with SSCAA and Board approval to ensure compliance with national priorities and global aviation standards.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, institutional growth, and safety in the civil aviation sector.
Its stated vision is to make South Sudan’s airports not only secure and efficient but also able to meet the needs of a growing and modernising economy.
| Key Appointment | New Position | Responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| Capt. Dau Majak | General Manager, Regional Airports | Oversight of regional airports and airstrips |

SSCAA’s leadership said the new appointments will play a crucial role in advancing the country’s aviation capacity at a time when South Sudan is seeking to expand regional and international connectivity.
