(JUBA) – South Sudan’s daily oil output has climbed to 174,000 barrels per day following increased production at the Greater Pioneer Operating Company fields in Unity State, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum announced on Thursday.
Dr. Santino Ayuel Longar told a press conference on 4 June 2026 that the rise in output was driven by reservoir studies, faster field development and new approaches in production processes. The production increase covers Blocks 1, 2 and 4.
Eng. Lual Chol Dak, Director General for Petroleum Exploration and Production Authority, said continued investment in exploration and production activities is expected to push output even higher. He added that this would strengthen the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
