(JUBA) – A Kenyan delegation from a pipelines company held talks with senior officials of the Ministry of Petroleum this month to address a decline in petroleum products flowing from Kenya to South Sudan.
The meeting, held on 5 June 2026, was chaired by the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, Eng. Lual Chol Dak. It brought together senior technical advisors, national senior technical consultants, directors general and concerned directors from the Ministry.
Eng. Lual opened the session by introducing members from both sides. He thanked the Kenyan team for making the visit.
The talks centred on challenges affecting the supply of petroleum products. These products normally travel from the Kenyan port of Mombasa, pass through Kampala in Uganda, and then enter South Sudan.
The Kenyan investors explained the difficulties that have caused a drop in the volume of petroleum products reaching South Sudan.
Eng. Lual thanked the Kenyan team for raising their concerns. He said communication, cooperation and coordination between the two sides must continue in order to resolve the challenges.
He added that both parties should work together to make progress in their bilateral relations and achieve their mutual interests.
