South Sudan Government Clarifies No Order for Foreign Nationals to Leave Country

(JUBA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has clarified that there is no government directive requiring foreign nationals to leave South Sudan.

In a public statement issued on October 8, the ministry said it had noted recent public discussions regarding the participation of foreign nationals in small-scale commercial activities, particularly in the capital, Juba.

The ministry emphasized that the Government of South Sudan has not issued any order instructing foreign citizens to depart the country.

According to the statement, commercial activities in South Sudan remain subject to existing laws and regulations, and any concerns related to business operations will be handled by the relevant authorities in accordance with the law.

The government further reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law, legitimate foreign investment, and maintaining constructive relations with foreign nationals and their respective countries.

The clarification comes amid growing public debate over the role of foreign traders in local businesses.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says South Sudan remains open to lawful investment and continues to value its diplomatic and economic partnerships with the international community.
