(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has ordered the deployment of a state security team to investigate a recent cattle related incident in Wonduruba Administrative Payam, with a focus on Mankaro village.
The team is being led by the State Security Advisor, Angelo Daya, and has been tasked with carrying out a full investigation into the events that led to loss of life and the raiding of a large number of cattle. State authorities say the incident has raised serious concern among local communities and requires a clear and firm response.
According to initial information from state officials, the attack is suspected to have involved armed cattle herders believed to have come from Bor in Jonglei State. The authorities have stressed that these details remain subject to verification as investigations continue on the ground.
Governor Adil has instructed the security team to gather evidence, identify those responsible and ensure that anyone found to be involved is held accountable in line with the law.
He said the state government is committed to protecting civilians and their livelihoods, particularly in rural areas where cattle are central to daily life and local economies.
At the same time, the Governor has appealed to residents of Wonduruba and neighbouring areas to remain calm and avoid retaliation. He said the state government is taking coordinated steps to address the situation, prevent further violence and restore peace and stability.
The incident comes amid wider concerns in South Sudan about recurring cattle related conflicts, which often lead to displacement, loss of livelihoods and strained relations between communities and states.
Central Equatoria authorities say the outcome of this investigation will be important not only for justice in Wonduruba but also for strengthening security and trust across the state.
State Government Press Unit CESGPU has indicated that further updates will be provided as the security team completes its work and reports back to the Office of the Governor.
