(JUBA) – The Mogiri Community of Mangalla Payam on Saturday visited Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, Governor of Central Equatoria State, to present their concerns and seek collaboration with the State government on issues affecting their area.
The delegation was led by Executive Chief Sanatore Ladu Kose and included intellectuals, women, youth and the Mogiri Tomoret Cultural Group. In a position paper delivered to the Governor, the community congratulated him on his leadership but also raised several challenges.
These included insecurity caused by armed cattle herders, limited access to clean water, inadequate health services, land grabbing and weak political representation.
Governor Mujung responded by calling for cooperation between the government and the people. He emphasised the importance of peace and development, stating that he would involve leaders from Greater Pibor and Jonglei State in discussions to resolve cattle raiding and other security threats at Mogiri Cattle Market.
The Governor highlighted unity as an essential foundation for stability. He said the concerns of the community were in line with national directives to promote unity, peace, security and to address land disputes.
“All your concerns are noted and will be incorporated into the policy direction of the State. Because service delivery is your fundamental right as citizens,” he assured them.
Executive Chief Kose thanked the Governor for his hospitality and urged the State leadership to hold direct engagements with leaders from Jonglei and Greater Pibor to prevent retaliatory violence.
He explained that the Mogiri community had built its own health centre but appealed for government support to fence the facility and to modernise agriculture. He added that the area was fertile and could support food production if provided with assistance.
Youth leader Richard Jada spoke of the need for rule of law and stability, particularly at Mogiri Cattle Market. He said peace and security in the area were necessary for livelihoods and for the wellbeing of the community.
The visit ended with both sides expressing commitment to work together.
