The Archbishop of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC-South Sudan) has been re-elected as the Evangelical President for the North and East Africa region.
Elias’s first term, which lasted four years, concluded on March 15, 2025.
In a recent press briefing in Yei town, Archbishop Elias shared that his next four-year tenure as leader of the alliance will focus on promoting regional peace and stability, elevating South Sudan’s participation in regional peace forums, and advocating for humanitarian and development support.
“I am thankful to God for being re-elected as the regional president of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa for the North East Africa Region for a second four-year term. My deputy will be Mr. Rafat from Sudan. This is great news to share with the people of Yei and South Sudan,” he added.
Elias expressed his gratitude to the regional African church leaders for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the association for a second term.
The Archbishop also highlighted the significant role the church has played in contributing to peace in South Sudan through peace negotiations and dialogue over the past several years.
The North-East Africa Evangelical churches include nine African countries: Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.
