(Juba) – The President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), General Augustino Maduot, met on Tuesday with several newly elected presidents of regional football associations to discuss the future of football development in the country.
During the meeting held at the SSFF headquarters in Juba, General Maduot congratulated the new officials on their election and expressed hope for a productive and collaborative relationship between the national federation and local football bodies.
He emphasized that strong coordination and mutual support between the federation and the regional associations are vital for promoting the sport nationwide.
“For football to grow across South Sudan, we must work together and support each other at all levels,” Maduot said.
The SSFF president encouraged the incoming leaders to prioritize transparency, accountability, and the development of grassroots football in their respective regions.
He also highlighted the need for inclusive programs that create opportunities for young players and foster community engagement.
Also present at the meeting were SSFF board members Mr. Thiong John and Mr. Mujhied Ali, along with the Secretary General of the Federation, Mr. Victor Lawrence. They echoed the president’s call for unity and pledged continued support for the regional associations.
The gathering comes at a time when South Sudan’s football sector is undergoing structural changes aimed at improving professionalism and expanding youth engagement across all ten states.
The SSFF has recently rolled out initiatives to strengthen local football infrastructure and promote talent identification from remote areas, many of which have been historically underserved due to conflict or lack of resources.
The newly elected regional presidents are expected to implement initiatives ensuring that the goals of the national federation are translated into action at the grassroots level.
