(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Two traditional dance groups in Yei River County have received 60 T-shirts to support their work in cultural preservation, peacebuilding and community events.
The Ayiki Traditional Dance Group and the Yei Town Payam Traditional Singing Group each took delivery of the shirts during a handover ceremony. The donation came from Hon. Jennifer Yabbu and was presented by county authorities.
Antony Dicko, a chairperson representing the dance groups, welcomed the support. He said the T-shirts would help the groups become more visible and recognisable during community activities.
Hon. Jennifer Yabbu said the donation marks the start of a wider effort to assist traditional dance groups in the county. She noted that such groups play a key role in promoting cultural heritage, social cohesion and peacebuilding across Yei River County.
She also praised the groups for their continued participation in peace initiatives and community engagement.
Traditional dance groups in the area are widely known for performing at cultural events, public awareness campaigns and activities meant to foster unity among communities.
County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo officiated the handover on behalf of the donor.
