(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Thousands of mourners gathered along the Maridi Road on Saturday to bury a senior county revenue officer whose death has been described as a major loss to local administration in Central Equatoria State.
Eunice Araba Na Fox, the Head of Revenue for Yei River County, died on the night of 25 June 2026 at Yei Civil Hospital. She was laid to rest on 27 June at a site roughly two kilometres west of Yei Town.
The funeral drew government officials, religious leaders and residents from across the county. The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, led the county delegation.
In his message, he called the late officer a hardworking and trustworthy public servant. He said her work in revenue management had brought real benefit to the county:
“Yei River County has lost a dedicated officer, a faithful servant of the people, and a woman of integrity who carried out her duties with commitment and professionalism,” Malimbo told mourners.
He offered condolences to the family, relatives, friends, colleagues and church members, asking that they find strength and comfort.
The Bishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan Diocese of Yei, Levi Marandulu Yopete, officiated the funeral service. He urged those present to turn away from sin and to value spiritual matters above material goods, which he said carry no worth beyond the grave.
Bishop Yopete said the late administrator had finished her work on earth and had devoted her life to serving Christ and the people of Yei:
“She has done her part and has gone to rest with the Lord. It is now the responsibility of those who remain to continue serving humanity with commitment and faithfulness.”
The county press unit stated that Eunice Araba Na Fox leaves behind a record of dedicated public service and a contribution to community development in Yei River County.
