(JUBA) – Egypt has announced plans to increase training programmes and scholarships for South Sudanese students and professionals. The announcement came on Tuesday 19 August 2025, during a farewell meeting between the Egyptian Ambassador to South Sudan, Moataz, and Michael Makuei Lueth, Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services.
Ambassador Moataz said discussions included cooperation on the Nile Basin. He highlighted the need for South Sudan and Egypt to work together to share the benefits of the river. Talks also focused on building closer ties through education, training and professional programmes.
Minister Makuei Lueth thanked the ambassador for four years of service in South Sudan and said the government is committed to strengthening relations with Egypt. He described the expanded training and scholarship programmes as an important step to improve education and skills for South Sudanese youth and professionals.
The planned programmes will give participants specialised training, academic scholarships and professional development opportunities.
