(MOROBO COUNTY) – Isaac Moro Johnson Lupai has been sworn in as the Caretaker Commissioner of Morobo County, taking up his duties ahead of his official reception at the county headquarters.
The swearing-in took place on Friday, 2nd October 2026, according to the Office of the Commissioner for Morobo County. He was appointed to the position on 1st October 2026.
Isaac Moro previously served as the Security Coordinator of Morobo County before his appointment, according to Access Radio Yei News. In that role, he worked closely with state authorities on security matters, including briefing the Central Equatoria State Governor on the county’s security situation in January 2026.
Radio Tamazuj reported in October 2026 that Morobo was among the six counties in Central Equatoria State whose caretaker commissioners were sworn in on Friday by Caretaker Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani.
The swearing-in ceremony in Juba brought together six caretaker county commissioners, the Caretaker Mayor of Juba City Council, three deputy mayors, the Coordinator of Wonduruba Administrative Payam and the Coordinator for Security Affairs of Juba County.
Morobo County has faced recurring insecurity in recent years, including armed attacks, abductions and displacement. The county borders Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, making it a key area for cross-border movements and security concerns.
Radio Tamazuj reported in October 2026 that Governor Jadalla urged the newly sworn-in officials to prepare their areas for the December elections, maintain peace and security, and remain impartial. He directed them to work with security agencies, traditional leaders and communities to prevent violence and resolve disputes peacefully.
Caretaker officials are barred from contesting elective office in the upcoming elections under the presidential order establishing the caretaker administration. They are also prohibited from using public office or government resources to promote or disadvantage political parties or candidates.
South Sudan is scheduled to hold general elections on 22nd December 2026, after years of delays under the transitional political process.
