Western Equatoria Receives Five Land Cruisers from Adut

(JUBA) – The Caretaker Governor of Western Equatoria State, Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, has received five brand new Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles donated by Special Senior Presidential Envoy Adut Salva Kiir.

The vehicles were handed over to the state government in Juba on Thursday, 2nd October 2026, according to the Office of the Governor of Western Equatoria State.

Governor Badagbu said the vehicles will strengthen the state government’s capacity to deliver services and promote good governance for the people of Western Equatoria.

He described the donation as a nationalistic and patriotic contribution and thanked Adut on behalf of the people and Government of Western Equatoria State.

The caretaker governor also thanked President General Salva Kiir Mayardit for the continued trust and confidence placed in him through his appointment to lead Western Equatoria State.

Governor Badagbu said he accepts the responsibility wholeheartedly and is committed to serving the people of South Sudan, particularly the people of Western Equatoria.

He pledged to work for peace and create a conducive environment for the electoral process.

He said the state government will work with communities to educate citizens on electoral issues, facilitate the electoral process and help ensure that peace prevails.

Governor Badagbu further pledged to work with the people of Western Equatoria to support the timely delivery of elections and maintain peace throughout the electoral process.

The donation comes amid a pattern of similar support to Western Equatoria State. The One Citizen Daily Newspaper reported in August 2026 that Presidential Affairs Minister Africano Mande Gedima handed over two Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles to the state government in Yambio to strengthen government operations and improve public service delivery.

Governor Badagbu said at the time that the state was facing logistical constraints, with several government vehicles unavailable or damaged.

The King Media South Sudan reported in March 2026 that Minister Africano Mande also handed over two Land Cruiser vehicles to the commissioners of Maridi and Ibba counties in Western Equatoria State.

Adut Salva Kiir was appointed Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programmes in August 2025.

Radio Tamazuj reported in October 2026 that Western Equatoria State sent 39 students to Aweil under the Adut Salva Kiir Scholarship Programme.

The students, 21 girls and 18 boys, were selected from vulnerable families based on academic performance. Eye Radio reported that poor road conditions forced the state to use air transport for some of the beneficiaries.
