Yei Commissioner Donates Bicycle to Deaf Resident

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A bicycle has been handed over to a deaf resident of Yei River County to improve his mobility and support his daily activities, in what local officials describe as a step towards greater inclusion for persons living with disabilities.

Martin Lomoro Emmanuel, who has lived with a hearing impairment since birth, received the new bicycle during a handover ceremony in Yei on 29 June 2026.

Speaking through sign language, he thanked the county administration for the gesture and described it as the first time in his life that he had received such support.

He said the bicycle will significantly ease his movement and enable him to carry out his day to day activities more independently. 

The donation was made by the Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, who reaffirmed the county administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community, including persons living with disabilities, and promoting their inclusion in social and economic activities.

The County Press Unit welcomed the donation as a positive step towards improving the welfare of persons with disabilities and advancing efforts to promote inclusivity, equal opportunities and community support in Yei River County.
