(YEI RIVER COUNTY) — The Chairperson of the Yei River County Legislative Council has announced plans to deliberate on several key issues affecting residents in the county.
Speaking to Access Radio on Monday afternoon, Council Chairperson Claudio Mila said the upcoming motions will focus on the growing consumption of harmful drugs, the problem of roaming animals in Yei town and the sale of expired consumer goods.
“We have motions to be deliberated, and one is the issue of drugs like opium and tramadol spoiling the youth in Yei County. Secondly, the issue of goats and cows roaming on the streets of Yei town, and thirdly, we have discovered that some business traders sell expired goods to local consumers,” Mila said.
Mila emphasized that effective enforcement of by-laws passed by the council will require close coordination and cooperation among the executive, judiciary and legislative arms of the county government.
