(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo has urged the Yei Health Training Institute to introduce scholarship opportunities to attract more medical students to the health profession.
Speaking during a Tuesday meeting with institute officials at the county headquarters, Malimbo stated that scholarships would improve access to education and address acute healthcare staffing shortages.
He emphasized that strong collaboration between the county administration and the training institution remains vital to developing sustainable local health services.
In response, Kuol Ajok, Principal of the Yei Health Training Institute, welcomed the county’s support and pledged to collaborate on health development initiatives.
Commissioner Malimbo also announced an upcoming visit from a government task force evaluating the establishment of a university in Yei, noting they will inspect potential premises previously used by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
