At least one hundred and fifteen (115) students have graduated with certificates and diplomas at Yei health training institute on Wednesday.
Kuol Ajok Wac the institute’s principal said out of the 115 graduates, 58 were registered nurses, 33 registered midwives and 25 medical laboratory technicians.

He urged the new graduates to put the acquired knowledge and skills into practical use through
provision of better and quality health services to the local population.
Charles Agele, who represented the graduates appealed to the Government to invest in the health education sector by offering more sponsorship opportunities for students to enroll and study at the Yei health training institute.
He also called on the institute, ministries of health and education to introduce bachelor degree courses in order to address challenges of advanced studies outside the country.
Agele encouraged his fellow graduates to observe the profession and manifest love, respect and commitment.
“This is an opportunity for us to go to work hard and Serve the vulnerable Communities in need with passion, and dedication”. He stressed.

Speaking during the event, Yei River County Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme expressed gratitude to the administration and students of Yei Health Science Institute for the progress made as a positive development in the education and health sectors.
He appealed to the administration of the Health Institute to establish more departments including the department of Nutrition, medicine so as to widen the areas of specialization in the health sector.
“we shall do our part as county Government to provide the needed environment for the functionality of the institution. And that is why I am part of this graduation, we shall ensure that peace and Stability prevails to improve the environment,” the Commissioner said.
Yei Health Science Institute (YHSI) was initially established in Chukudum in 1995 by the New Sudan Health Science Secretariat in collaboration with Norwegian People’s Aid with support from Norwegian’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian Agency for Development Corporation.
