(JUBA) – Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony has met representatives of the Kakuwa community, in what his office said was reaffirming the state government’s commitment to working closely with local communities to strengthen peace and security across the state.
The meeting took place in Juba on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, and was led by the Kakuwa community chairperson, Dada Issac Lemi. Community leaders congratulated Governor Adil on his reappointment by the President to continue leading Central Equatoria State and used the meeting to present key challenges affecting their people.
During the discussion, the community raised concerns related to security, access to health services, the movement and activities of cattle herders and the state of education. They stressed that improved security remains essential to allow residents to return fully to agricultural activities, which are a major source of livelihoods in many parts of Central Equatoria and South Sudan more broadly.
The community also called for the rehabilitation of feeder roads to improve movement and connectivity between villages and markets. They further highlighted the need to strengthen civil and military relations, noting that cooperation between security forces and civilians is important for maintaining stability at the local level.
In his response, Governor Adil reaffirmed his commitment to achieving lasting peace, unity and security stability in Central Equatoria State. He emphasised that addressing these challenges requires joint efforts between government authorities and local communities, with dialogue and cooperation at the centre of progress.
The Kakuwa community expressed their continued support for the state leadership and its peace efforts. Governor Adil welcomed this support and assured the community of the government commitment to working closely with local leaders and residents to advance peace, unity and development for the benefit of Central Equatoria State and South Sudan as a whole.
