Juma David Agustine
Effective political dialogue is crucial for legitimizing authority and ensuring that diverse perspectives are considered in the democratic process. This depends on the purpose of the political dialogue and how it’s composed to deliver to the desired objective.
Therefore, political dialogue is not a debate, but a stage to allow detailed exchange of diverse ideas and opinions by different stakeholders to have a common understanding and consensus during contestation, dispute or conflict. The integrity of the organizers matters in addition to being careful about our polarized atmosphere.
In our current political stalemate, it can be the better option to return our country to peace and prosperity. The use of guns to settle political disagreements has become catastrophic, with immeasurable losses although some characters still find it as the most suitable mechanism. However, sentiments of betrayal, ego and disrespect be avoided during such engagement to bring trust and confidence among the participants. It’s our collective responsibility to silence the guns across the country and emphasize on roundtable dialogue to resolve misunderstandings. South Sudanese have suffered enough in these circles of violence and baseless wars. Citizens should be given an opportunity to rebuild their war-ravaged lives. Who is Juma David?
