(JUBA) – The Central Equatoria State Security Committee has assessed the general security situation across the state, describing it as largely normal, with only a few isolated incidents that remain under control.
The meeting, chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, also reviewed tax collection practices and issued guidance for harmonised revenue collection in state markets. Security preparations for the upcoming New Year celebrations were a key focus of the discussion.
The Committee instructed security agencies to act against individuals collecting taxes illegally in local markets. Officials also reminded the public and security personnel to avoid spree shootings during festivities, noting that security forces will be deployed to maintain peace and order throughout the celebrations.
Addressing ongoing conflicts, the Committee called for immediate investigations into a recent cattle-related dispute between herders from Bor and Mundari in Reggo, Terekeka County, which resulted in casualties. Officials also resolved to work jointly with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to address cross border issues affecting Morobo County.
Committee members emphasised the importance of public cooperation with security agencies and urged citizens to report criminal activity. Police were also reminded to continue operations against gang groups and other criminal elements as the state prepares for the New Year.
Governor Adil highlighted the need for community vigilance and collaboration, stressing that maintaining peace and security is essential for smooth celebrations and overall stability in Central Equatoria State.
