Central Equatoria Security Committee Assures Calmness Across the State

(JUBA) – The Central Equatoria State Security Committee has assured the public that the general security situation across the state remains largely calm, despite isolated incidents reported in a few areas.

During its ordinary meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony in Juba on Wednesday morning, the committee reviewed the overall security landscape and expressed confidence in the prevailing peace across most parts of the state. However, authorities acknowledged pockets of insecurity, particularly in some residential areas of the capital.

The committee raised concern over a recent increase in fire outbreaks, warning residents to take extra precautions. Members urged the public to handle electricity connections and gas cylinders with care, noting that negligence in these areas has contributed to rising incidents.

Attention was also directed to growing cases of robberies in neighbourhoods such as Gurei North and Gudele West. Security organs, in coordination with Juba County authorities, have been tasked to intensify patrols and strengthen protection in these affected areas to restore public confidence.

In Terekeka County, the Commissioner has been instructed to facilitate the transfer of detainees to Juba for further investigation and judicial processes, a move aimed at ensuring accountability and the rule of law.

Beyond security concerns, the committee also discussed the need for tighter oversight of natural resources, calling on the State Mining Authority to speed up the regulation of mining activities across Central Equatoria.

Officials emphasized that these combined measures are designed to maintain stability, prevent emerging threats, and reinforce trust in the security system.
