
Cross Border Cooperation Secures Oil Facilities for South Sudan/PHOTO CREDITS: Press Unit, Office of the President
(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received a report on the resumption of work at the oil facilities in Panthou, also known as Heglig.
The update was delivered by a government delegation led by Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manime. The team briefed the President on current conditions in the area and the status of oil production, which they described as progressing steadily.
In a press statement, Tut Gatluak said all technical and engineering teams had returned to Heglig to continue their work. He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation from both sides in Sudan to protect the oil infrastructure, which he described as vital to both nations.
During the briefing, President Kiir instructed the Ministry of Petroleum to ensure that operations continue smoothly and that oil production proceeds without interruptions. He emphasised that consistent oil production is essential to support service delivery to the population.
