(CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) — President Salva Kiir Mayardit has instructed Central Equatoria State authorities to strengthen security and ensure a peaceful environment as the country prepares for upcoming national elections in December 2026.
The directive followed a meeting on Monday where Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony briefed the President on the current security situation and electoral preparations in the state. According to the governor, the region remains relatively calm, with steady progress in organizing for the polls.
Adil noted that communities are actively mobilizing and working with relevant institutions to prepare for the electoral process. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring citizens are ready to participate in the democratic exercise.
President Kiir urged residents to maintain peace and adhere to the election timetable once released by the National Elections Commission. He also called on state authorities and security agencies to intensify efforts to maintain law and order, safeguard communities, and create conditions necessary for smooth and credible elections.
