(YEI RIVER COUNTY) — Residents of Yei River County are set to benefit from expanded humanitarian services as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) plans to extend its operations to underserved urban and rural areas of the county.
The development was announced after ICRC officials held a meeting with County Commissioner Hon. Samuel Henry Malimbo on Monday, where they discussed the general situation in the region and preparations for scaling up assistance.
The planned expansion will focus on delivering essential services to vulnerable communities, with discussions also covering security conditions and improving access to areas targeted for humanitarian support.
Commissioner Malimbo welcomed the initiative, commending the ICRC for its continued commitment to assisting communities affected by conflict and displacement. He emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between local authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure aid reaches those most in need.
The ICRC’s expanded presence is expected to enhance access to basic services and strengthen support for civilians across the county, reinforcing ongoing efforts to address humanitarian challenges in the region.
