
Central Equatoria Cabinet Discusses E-Tax Resumption and Security Updates/PHOTO CREDITS: Office of the State Governor
(JUBA, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – The State cabinet discussed a range of emerging issues affecting Central Equatoria in an ordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday, 22 January 2026,
A key item on the agenda was a memorandum presented by Honourable Salah Rajab Bunduki, the State Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment.
The memo focused on the resumption of the electronic tax system, aiming to increase revenue collection, ensure fair management of resources and promote transparency and accountability. It also provided an update on the current financial situation and proposed steps to improve revenue collection across the State.
After discussion, the cabinet praised the timely submission of the memo and agreed to defer final decisions to the next council meeting to allow for additional inputs. The State Government reaffirmed its commitment to modernising taxation to improve efficiency and transparency.
On security, the cabinet confirmed that the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) now have full control of Morobo County following recent clashes with SPLA/IO forces. Citizens of Morobo County were urged to remain calm, cooperate with security forces, and avoid spreading or following information from anti-peace elements.
In related developments, Governor Adil paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Professor Dr James Wani Igga, the Vice President of South Sudan and Chair of the Economic Cluster. During the visit, Governor Adil updated the Vice President on the security situation in the State, confirming that SSPDF now controls Panyume Payam in Morobo County.
The two leaders also discussed measures to harmonise taxation across government levels and improve coordination to deliver more responsive and efficient services.
In his role as Chairperson of the State SPLM, Governor Adil briefed the Vice President, who is also First Deputy Chairman of the party, on efforts to reorganise the State SPLM Secretariat. He expressed the party’s readiness to mobilise support among citizens ahead of the elections expected later this year.
