(JUBA, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – The outgoing Head of Field Office for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Central Equatoria State, Mrs Njoki Kinyanjui, formally introduced her successor, Christopher Muchiri Murenga, to Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Friday, 23 January 2026, in a smooth leadership handover.
Mrs Kinyanjui thanked the State Government for its collaboration with UNMISS in promoting peace initiatives across Central Equatoria. She encouraged continued support for Mr Murenga as he assumes his new role.
Mr Murenga pledged to work closely with State authorities to advance peace, strengthen security, and support humanitarian programmes in the region.
Governor Adil commended Mrs Kinyanjui for her contributions during her tenure and expressed his commitment to maintaining strong cooperation with UNMISS under its new leadership. He highlighted the mission’s role in protecting civilians and supporting development in the State.
The leadership changes follow UNMISS’s recent staff redeployments and reflect financial pressures affecting the mission’s operations across South Sudan.
The event was attended by the State Minister of Peacebuilding, Honourable Jacob Aligo Lo-Lado, who also expressed support for the incoming Head of Field Office.
