(JUBA) – The Ministry of Health of South Sudan has begun a three day Implementation Review Meeting for Year Two, Quarter Two, of the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP).
The meeting held at Palm Africa Hotel in Juba brings together national and state health officials, partners, and donors to review progress and plan improvements in service delivery.
In his opening remarks, Undersecretary Dr Kennedy Ganniko expressed appreciation to health workers across the country, recognising their dedication to serving communities despite ongoing challenges. He said the Ministry is actively working to address systemic issues affecting health services.
Dr Ganniko also acknowledged implementing partners for their cooperation with state governments and local communities, which he said has been essential in improving health service delivery. He emphasised that the meeting aims to review performance, share best practices, and identify solutions to challenges within the HSTP.
“Today’s discussions will also allow us to reflect on how safeguards are being addressed, including ensuring that services are delivered safely, respectfully, and with accountability,” Dr Ganniko said in highlighting the importance of quality and oversight in health services.
The second day of the review focused on interactive discussions and deeper analysis of the project’s core components.
Participants examined bottlenecks in service delivery and explored strategies to enhance the resilience and efficiency of the health system across South Sudan.
The Ministry of Health said the HSTP review is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen health systems, improve service delivery and ensure that communities receive reliable and accountable healthcare services.
Updates and outcomes from the sessions are expected to guide future planning and implementation of health programmes nationwide.
