(NAIROBI, KENYA) – Gor Mahia have completed the signing of South Sudan international Jackson Dwang from Posta Rangers, strengthening their squad for the second half of the SportPesa League season.
The attacking midfielder has signed a two year contract with the Kenyan champions, ending weeks of speculation over his future after attracting interest from several top league clubs, including Kenya Police, AFC Leopards, and Nairobi United.
Dwang has emerged as one of the most sought-after midfielders in the league, following strong performances for Posta Rangers. His energy, creativity, and eye for goal made him a key player for the Mailmen, and those qualities are expected to strengthen Gor Mahia’s midfield as the season intensifies.
The signing comes after the departure of Austine Odhiambo, the 2023/24 SportPesa League Most Valuable Player, who recently joined Lebanese club Nejmeh Sports. Gor Mahia had identified the need to reinforce the attacking midfield, and Dwang’s arrival addresses that gap.
Head coach Charles Akonnor acknowledged the challenge of replacing Odhiambo. Speaking after Gor Mahia’s 4-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium, he said: “Odhiambo has been one of our best players. His departure was a big loss, but we are looking at options to fill the gap, and Dwang brings creativity and experience to the squad.”
Gor Mahia confirmed the signing on their official social media channels, welcoming Dwang to the club.
| Player | Previous Club | Contract Length | Position |

Dwang’s experience in the league, combined with his international exposure with South Sudan, is expected to help him adapt quickly and provide fresh options for Akonnor as Gor Mahia pursue another league title.
The signing is timely, with Gor Mahia preparing for a key Nyanza Derby clash against Shabana at Gusii Stadium on Sunday. The fixture is expected to attract significant attention, and Dwang could play an important role as K’Ogalo aim to maintain momentum and assert their dominance in the SportPesa League.
