Kapoeta East Water Supply Interventions Reach 4,000 Households

(KAPOETA EAST COUNTY) – Save the Children has reached more than 15,000 households in Kapoeta East County in Eastern Equatoria State with hygiene promotion and awareness activities.

The support is part of the Integrated Emergency Life-Saving Humanitarian Assistance to Vulnerable Communities in Kapoeta East 2026 project.

The project is funded by the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund, which is managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The assistance targets communities affected by conflict and flooding, including internally displaced people, returnees and host communities.

Under its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene interventions, the organisation said 2,500 households received essential WASH non-food items.

A further 73 households were reached through sanitation activities using the Community-Led Total Sanitation approach.

More than 15,000 people were reached through waterborne disease prevention and control activities.

Over 4,000 households were reached through water supply interventions, improving access to clean water.

Save the Children said the support is helping vulnerable communities protect their health, improve hygiene practices and reduce the risk of waterborne diseases.

The organisation said clean water, safe sanitation and good hygiene save lives.

It thanked the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Ministry of Health for their support.

Kapoeta East is among four counties on high alert because of frequent cross-border movements, according to a humanitarian snapshot for November 2025.

Flooding has affected about 1.35 million people across 39 counties and displaced about 376,000, the snapshot said.
