(PANYIJIAR COUNTY) – A new borehole and hand pump have been installed at Panyijiar County Hospital in Unity State, improving access to clean water for patients and health workers at the facility.
The project was completed following logistical operations carried out by teams working with South Sudan Red Cross volunteers. The installation provides the hospital with a permanent water point after previous limitations in water supply.
According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the intervention is intended to strengthen basic services at the health facility and improve conditions for both patients and staff.
The new water source is expected to reduce the time and effort previously required to access water and support daily hospital operations, including hygiene and medical care services.
The organisation said the work forms part of broader support to essential services in areas affected by difficult access conditions and limited infrastructure.
In a separate humanitarian response earlier in June, the International Committee of the Red Cross, working with South Sudan Red Cross volunteers, provided assistance to displaced families in Western Equatoria State.

More than 2,500 displaced families in Nagero County received food items, essential household supplies, dignity kits and kitchen sets as part of that support.
That assistance followed an earlier distribution in April to around 3,300 displaced families in Mundri East County.
Humanitarian teams said many families in the affected areas have been forced to leave their homes and are facing challenges in accessing basic needs, including food and shelter.
The support is aimed at helping displaced households meet immediate needs while coping with the impact of displacement and ongoing insecurity in parts of the country.Discover more from Access Radio Yei News
