(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir has sworn in the new Chairperson and Members of the Board of Directors of the National Communication Authority after a delay of more than two months since their appointment.
The ceremony confirmed Tejwok Simon Ajak as the new Chairperson of the Board, giving him full responsibility for guiding the body that regulates the country’s telecommunication sector.
The National Communication Authority oversees licensing, service standards and the wider development of communication services across South Sudan.
Before this new role, Eng Tejwok Simon Ajak served as Deputy Chairperson for e service and also worked with the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, gaining experience in technology oversight and national regulatory work.
During the event, President Kiir urged the new Board to improve the reliability and availability of communication services throughout the country.
He said the Authority must ensure that citizens in all regions, including remote counties, have reasonable access to communication networks that support both public needs and economic activity.
The government has said that strengthening telecommunication services is important for national development, as the sector supports banking, education, humanitarian coordination and security operations.
The President encouraged the Board to work closely with service providers and government institutions to achieve better results.

The National Communication Authority is expected to begin new consultations with mobile operators and internet service providers as it moves to improve services and expand network coverage in all states.
