(JUBA) – The Board of Directors for the South Sudan Revenue Authority met last week to look over the work done by the agency during the end of 2025. The meeting was led by the board chairperson, Stephen Dhieu Dau, and focused on how much money was collected between October and December.
The group studied reports on the financial health of the authority, how well people are following tax laws, and how the organization is run.
Mr Dau told the board members that their main job is to give clear direction and make sure all decisions are honest and open. He said these reports help make sure the authority is doing its job of collecting money for the country in a fair way.
During the meeting, Mr Dau encouraged the board to have honest talks and find ways to make it easier for people to pay their taxes.
He said that the work of the revenue authority is very important because the money collected allows the government to provide schools, hospitals and other public services for the people of South Sudan.
The chairperson also spoke about some of the good things the authority has done recently. One achievement was improving the department that works with large factories and businesses. This change was made to help collect taxes more effectively from important parts of the economy.
The board also heard about new plans for checking tax records and solving disagreements between the government and taxpayers. Mr Dau said these new rules are very important for building trust with the public and making the revenue authority work better.
