(JUBA) – The Juba Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCO) has asked all customers to stop giving gifts, tips, or money to its staff. The company said its workers are not allowed to accept any kind of payment or reward outside official charges.
JEDCO explained that the rule covers all services, including new meter connections, pole erections, customer complaints and assessments. The company warned that both staff and customers who give or accept unofficial payments may face disciplinary action or even legal consequences.
To make services fair and transparent, JEDCO reminded the public that payments should only be made after receiving an official quotation. Every customer must also ask for a receipt to confirm payment.
The company is encouraging customers to report any cases of bribery or misconduct. Reports can be made to service centre managers, placed in suggestion boxes, or sent by email to info@jedcopower.com. JEDCO said all reports will be treated with confidentiality and acted on quickly.
JEDCO added that it wants to build trust with customers by providing fair, honest and equal service to everyone. The company said the success of its work depends on cooperation from both staff and the community to keep services free from corruption.
The untility company provided a simple guide for customers:
