(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria Mujung Emmanuel, met with Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak, the National Minister of Roads and Bridges, on Monday, 15 September 2025, to discuss practical measures for improving Juba’s road infrastructure and enhancing the city’s cleanliness.
The consultative meeting brought together key stakeholders from Juba County, the Juba City Council and technical officials from both the State and National Ministries of Roads and Bridges.
Officials said the meeting reflects a joint commitment to sustainable urban development and better service delivery for residents of the capital.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Hon. Clement Maring Samuel, State Minister of Roads and Bridges, said discussions focused on several urgent issues, including effective waste management, reducing encroachment into road reserves by city residents and creating organised parking spaces. He emphasised that tackling these issues is essential to improving daily life for citizens and supporting the city’s economic growth.
Officials also noted the need for clear strategies to maintain roads, manage traffic and ensure the proper disposal of waste. Stakeholders agreed that combining State and National resources and expertise will be critical to achieving lasting improvements in Juba’s urban infrastructure.
The office of the state governor said the meeting comes as Juba continues to experience rapid urbanisation, making coordinated planning and maintenance increasingly important to keep roads in good condition and public spaces clean.
The state press unit reported that follow-up actions will be taken in the coming weeks to implement practical solutions.
