(JUBA) – The Ministry of Transport, led by Minister Hon. Rizik Zakaria Hassan, carried out a strategic visit to Juba International Airport and the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority headquarters on 2nd December 2025 .
The delegation was received by SSCAA Director General Hon. John Woja Elinana and Juba International Airport General Manager Eng. Kat Moseti Monyjok.
The visit included an extensive tour of ongoing and completed infrastructure projects. Key developments inspected included terminal renovations, new generators, lighting installations, perimeter fencing, drainage upgrades, airport parking construction, the control tower, fire brigade facilities, meteorology centre, a new entry gate and the modern Air Traffic Management system.
Minister Hassan highlighted the Ministry’s focus on strengthening the aviation sector. He emphasised the need for a robust regulatory framework aligned with international standards, well trained personnel, clear policies for sustainable development, and strict adherence to the Master Plan for Juba International Airport.
He also called for transparent and performance driven contracts to ensure the quality of all aviation projects.
Senior leadership attending the visit included SSCAA Board Chairperson Hon. Samuel Yanga Mikaya, Lt Gen. Baak Akoon Baak, SSCAA Board Member, Undersecretary Hon. Caesar Oliha, and other senior SSCAA management staff. Their presence reflected a unified commitment to advancing aviation in South Sudan.
These projects are part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, passenger experience and aviation safety in the country.
The Ministry of Transport and SSCAA reaffirmed their commitment to modernising infrastructure, strengthening institutional capacity, and positioning Juba International Airport as a future regional aviation hub.
