(JUBA) – Authorities in Central Equatoria State have begun the formal opening of roads and allocation of residential plots in Kapuri Hai Salam in Juba, ending a delay that has lasted about 15 years.
The exercise marks the start of the official showing of demarcated plots in the Kapuri residential area. State officials, community leaders and residents gathered for the launch as surveying teams began work to organise settlement and prepare the area for planned development.
Officials say the initiative will help organise land use, improve settlement planning and support infrastructure development in the growing community.
During the launch, state authorities thanked the community of Rombur for their cooperation and for providing land that helped accommodate returnees who came back from Khartoum after South Sudan gained independence in 2011.
Residents of Kapuri Hai Salam have been encouraged to cooperate with engineers and technical teams during the surveying and road opening process so that the development plan can be carried out smoothly.
The State Ministry of Housing, Land and Public Utilities said the exercise forms part of wider efforts to strengthen land management and improve services for citizens in Central Equatoria State.
Officials from the ministry said their role includes organising land allocation, ensuring proper planning and supporting communities with basic services.
Authorities added that the showing and handover of demarcated plots, together with improved services, remain key priorities for the state administration.
Local officials also said the opening of roads in Kapuri Hai Salam will support development and allow the construction of public services including schools, health facilities and security institutions.
State authorities say the project is expected to improve settlement planning, expand infrastructure and increase access to basic services for residents of Kapuri Hai Salam.
