(JUBA COUNTY) – Authorities in Central Equatoria State have launched the opening of roads in Yaro village as part of efforts to improve rural development and land planning in Juba County.
Officials say the road opening exercise will help organise settlement in the area and improve access to services and transport links for local communities.
During the launch event, state authorities congratulated the Yaro community for cooperating with government officials to demarcate the village and prepare it for planned development.
Officials said the initiative is expected to reduce pressure on overcrowded urban areas by encouraging settlement and development in rural communities while improving access to roads and basic services.
The State Ministry of Housing, Land and Public Utilities said the opening of roads and the clear showing of demarcated plots remain a priority as part of wider land planning efforts in Central Equatoria State.
Local authorities in Juba County also praised the Yaro community for dedicating land for proper demarcation and organised settlement.
Officials encouraged other communities across Juba County to follow the example of Yaro by cooperating with authorities to organise land use and support local development.
County authorities said planned development should include space for public services such as schools, health facilities, police stations, football grounds and local government offices.
Local administrators also warned residents against acquiring land mainly for financial gain. Instead, communities have been encouraged to focus on settlement, development and cooperation with planning authorities.
Officials say the Yaro project is expected to serve as an example of planned rural growth and cooperation between communities and government institutions in Central Equatoria State.
