Yei Faces Urgent Road Repair Challenge/PHOTO CREDITS: Yeka Joel
(OPINION/Yeka Joel) – Yei is at a critical moment, and the absence of a town or road grader is creating serious challenges in efforts to repair essential roads.
The situation is becoming more difficult as the main routes linking key areas, including the road from Sky Resort through HASS down to the supermarket and Yei Mosque, are now filled with large potholes.
These damaged roads are not only an inconvenience. They also disrupt access to important services and threaten the livelihoods of many residents.
As the community works to place Yei on the map as a vibrant and growing town, all partners involved in road rehabilitation must play their part.
This includes businesses and hotels that depend directly on these routes. The poor state of the roads affects the local economy and the daily lives of citizens.
I call on local leaders to work closely with relevant organisations and stakeholders to develop a clear and practical plan to improve the town’s infrastructure.
Action is needed before the rainy season worsens an already fragile situation. The issue is not only about repairing roads. It is about rebuilding community spirit and creating hope for a better future.
Together, the people of Yei can change this situation. Citizens deserve a town that is not only accessible but also growing and thriving. By working together and taking practical steps, the community can reclaim its streets and restore pride in the town.
