Suspension Letter
(YEI RIVER COUNTY) -The Yei Football Association has suspended the Chairperson of its Referees Committee, Mr. Karaba Lawrence, over allegations of professional and financial misconduct.
The decision follows disciplinary hearings conducted on June 12th and 13th, 2026, by the Association’s Board of Directors.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary General, the Board found that Mr. Karaba failed in his supervisory role during a match between Kanaka FC and United Stars FC on May 28th, 2026. The appointed referee abandoned the game at halftime due to anticipated security concerns, a situation the Board says reflects inadequate guidance and oversight.
The investigation further revealed that Mr. Karaba allegedly misappropriated one million South Sudanese Pounds intended for the welfare of referees. The Board reported that no valid authorization or supporting documents were provided for the use of the funds, describing the act as a breach of trust and financial regulations.
As a result, the Association has imposed a three-month suspension from all football-related activities, effective immediately. Mr. Karaba has also been ordered to repay the full amount within 21 days.
The statement warns that failure to comply may lead to stricter disciplinary measures, including dismissal from office, permanent expulsion from the Association, and possible legal action.
The Yei Football Association reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity, emphasizing that all officials must adhere to established regulations governing football administration and financial management.
