(YEI / MOROBO) — The medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Belgium has announced plans to expand healthcare services to hard-to-reach areas, including Yei and Morobo counties in Central Equatoria State.
The move follows the organization’s suspension of activities last year in parts of Yei and Morobo due to persistent insecurity and targeted abductions of health workers in the two counties.
On Tuesday, MSF Belgium’s Country Coordinator, Mr. Edi Ferdinand Atte, met with the State Minister of Health, Hon. Joyce Bakwa Agole, to discuss ongoing and future healthcare initiatives in the state.
During the meeting, Mr. Atte briefed the minister on MSF’s current operations in Kajo Keji, highlighting the successful construction of a hospital aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for local communities.
He reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing sustained and comprehensive medical support to the facility and the wider state health system.
Mr. Atte also emphasized MSF Belgium’s plans to extend support to Yei and Morobo counties, with the goal of strengthening healthcare delivery across more areas.
For her part, Health Minister Joyce Bakwa Agole expressed appreciation for MSF Belgium’s continued support and contributions to the health sector. She praised the organization’s dedication to improving healthcare services, particularly in underserved communities.
The minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting MSF operations and enhancing collaboration to ensure effective and sustainable healthcare services for the population.
