(LAINYA COUNTY) – Bereka Boma in Lainya County has welcomed the County Commissioner, Hon. Robert Lasu John Morris, and a delegation of community leaders from Juba in a visit aimed at rebuilding trust and strengthening recovery efforts in the area.
The visit was held on 13th December 2025 and brought together county officials and local residents to reconnect with the community after years of disruption linked to conflict in parts of Central Equatoria State and wider South Sudan.
According to the Lainya County Press Unit, the delegation focused on assessing progress made by residents who have returned to the area and on identifying areas where further support is needed. Discussions covered security, development priorities, and ways to empower the local community.
Commissioner Robert Lasu John Morris said the visit reflected growing stability in Bereka Boma.
“Bereka Boma is rising from the ashes, with returnees and community members working together to rebuild,” he said. “We are committed to supporting this momentum and to promoting peace and prosperity for everyone.”
Community leaders and county officials discussed the importance of maintaining security as a foundation for development. They also reviewed ongoing and potential initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening local administration.
The visit was marked by a positive reception from residents, with traditional songs and cultural displays used to welcome the delegation. Local leaders said the presence of county authorities had boosted morale and reinforced confidence in the peace process.
Residents highlighted the need for continued engagement from the county government and partners to ensure that recovery efforts are sustained. Community empowerment and inclusion were identified as key to preventing future conflict.
