(LAINYA COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Lainya County, Robert John Lasu, has reported that the presence of armed Ambororo cattle herders in several villages is now a major security issue.
During a detailed security meeting with the State Governor, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, on Thursday, Commissioner Lasu explained a firm plan to move the herders back to their areas of origin.
This action is intended to take place before the next farming season begins to protect local crops.
In response to the security report, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony told the Commissioner to keep working closely with security agencies to maintain peace and stability across the county.
The Governor also promised that his administration is ready to provide the necessary support to the local authorities in Lainya.
The Ambororo are nomadic herders who originally come from West African countries such as Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and Chad.
Local authorities often manage various costs related to security patrols and border monitoring. Specific budget figures were not released for this eviction plan.
