Lainya County Receives Office Equipment from Juba Tech Hub

(JUBA / LAINYA) – The Caretaker Commissioner of Lainya County, Hon. Laku Micah Wani, has received office equipment from a technology hub in Juba, as part of efforts to strengthen the county administration’s daily operations.

The donation was handed over on 5th October 2026 at the Scenius Hub in Juba, according to the Lainya County Press Unit.

Mr. Nelson Kwaje, the head of Scenius Hub, donated a printer, printing paper and a Wi-Fi router to support the county administration.

Hon. Laku Micah Wani thanked Mr. Kwaje for the donation and called for more support to sustain the Commissioner’s office.

He said the contribution is meant to provide the office with essential tools to improve administrative efficiency, communication and service delivery to the people of Lainya County.

The caretaker commissioner also reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with partners and non-governmental organisations to restore effective governance and service delivery in Lainya County.

The engagement meeting brought together some of the non-governmental organisations operating in Central Equatoria State.

Scenius Hub is a youth development and innovation centre in Juba, founded by Nelson Kwaje.

It describes itself as a hub for entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, serving a membership of more than 600 young people.

The organisation offers co-working space, a public library, a digital content studio, an art shop and event venues.

It focuses on empowering young South Sudanese through mentorship, training workshops and connections to potential investors.

Scenius Hub has hosted events with organisations including UNICEF, the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme.

It has also run technology programmes such as IndabaX South Sudan, the country’s first artificial intelligence summit.

The donation comes shortly after Hon. Laku Micah Wani was appointed Caretaker Commissioner of Lainya County. He took office on 1st October 2026, following a gubernatorial order issued by Caretaker Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, according to Access Radio Yei News.

He was among six caretaker county commissioners named for Central Equatoria State.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Wani expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Caretaker Governor.

He said he will serve the people of Lainya County with dignity and the fear of God.

The appointment follows the dissolution of the transitional government by President Salva Kiir Mayardit on 22nd September 2026, paving the way for general elections scheduled for 22nd December 2026.

Under the presidential order establishing the caretaker administration, officials serving in caretaker positions are barred from contesting elective office. They are also required to act impartially and are prohibited from using public office to promote or disadvantage political parties or candidates.

Lainya County is located in Central Equatoria State, bordering Yei River County, Morobo County, Kajo-Keji County and Juba County.
